Background.
Our story starts 40 years ago.
Having joined the Merchant Navy after leaving school at the age of 16, and visiting all four corners of the globe, it became apparent to Michael (our MD) that coffee was something very different to what was available back at home on the Llyn Peninsula (and the rest of the UK). Once home Michael found and set up a small roaster in his garden shed, giving away beans to family friends and neighbours as gifts and birthday presents. In no time at all, people were wanting to buy them. From this small green coffee bean of an enterprise, Dwyfor Coffee Co Ltd was born!
Michael has a great insight and passion for flavour, and has developed a very keen palate which detects the subtleties and flavours that mark the different types of beans. He is a master blender, having developed the current range of our signature blends.
To keep up with demand and growth, we moved to our custom built premises in Nefyn in 2006. This has provided us with the opportunity to expand into Teas, Hot Chocolate, Milk, Sugar, Coffee Machine Sales, Training and so much more. Our ambition is always to provide excellent coffee and service, this being what drives us further forward every day.
Our Mission – Our Ethos
Whilst our ambition is to always provide a first class product and service, we have always been ethical in our approach. We have supported Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance products since the beginning, with the belief we need to support the growers and to promote a sustainable environment.
Most of our packaging is now environmentally friendly, and we’re continuously looking for new packaging alternatives that are less harmful to the planet.
Ever conscious of our carbon footprint, our fleet of delivery vehicles is lpg powered, and we’re always mindful of greener alternatives.
